CIP 2024 Conference

MRA proudly presented at the 2024 Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) National Planning Conference in Edmonton, Alberta, leading a workshop that explored innovative public engagement practices for complex planning projects.

In collaboration with McGowan Russell Group, MRA shared insights from two transformative projects: the True North Downtown Campus in Winnipeg and Flin Flon’s 50-Year Development Plan. These high-profile initiatives provided a foundation for discussing cutting-edge methodologies that deliver impactful results while fostering trust and inclusivity among diverse stakeholder groups.

The interactive workshop challenged attendees to rethink traditional engagement strategies through a hypothetical planning scenario. Participants explored creative techniques to make public consultation processes more inclusive, effective, and enjoyable, reinforcing the critical role of community voices in planning decisions.

This presentation highlighted MRA’s commitment to advancing public engagement practices within the profession. By sharing experiences and facilitating dialogue with planners from across Canada, MRA underscored the importance of adaptability and innovation in addressing the evolving challenges of modern planning.
