Overview
MRA was retained by Sapphire Springs Inc. to conduct an Economic Impact Study for its aquaculture facility near Rockwood, Manitoba. This innovative project, which utilizes advanced recirculating aquaculture system technology, is designed to address global seafood shortages while advancing sustainable Arctic char production.
As part of the study, MRA undertook a comprehensive global and regional market analysis, examining demand trends, competitive positioning, and the economic potential of Arctic char production. The Economic Impact Study evaluates project’s direct, indirect, and induced impacts on employment, regional business activity, and tax revenues across multiple levels of government.
The findings from this analysis played a pivotal role in demonstrating the project’s economic significance and environmental benefits. This evidence supported SSI in securing a $20 million funding commitment from the Provincial government, highlighting the facility’s potential to contribute to Manitoba’s economic growth and global leadership in sustainable aquaculture practices.
