Ryan Fox

Director, Development

MCP, MCIP, RPP, B Env. D
Email: ryan@mrichard.ca

Ryan believes that the practice of urban planning and design should have bold aspirations to enable communities to advance equity and sustainability while creating vibrant and livable spaces in urban and rural environments. Through the use of digital tools and software such as Esri’s Urban Suite, Adobe’s Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, and other web-based applications, Ryan looks to translate conceptual urban strategies into effective spatial forms.

Through his professional experience, Ryan continues to push the overall quality of project deliverables and has excelled at leading, managing, and navigating large, complex planning, engagement, and development projects. His ability to coordinate diverse stakeholders, synthesize complex information, and maintain project momentum ensures high-quality outcomes, combining strong visual communication with a clear, strategic narrative.

With a background studying urban planning and design, he brings a passion and expertise in placemaking, sustainable urbanism, transit-oriented development, and Indigenous capacity building. Focusing his research on authentic place identities and experiences, Ryan is drawn to learning about how humans learn from and interact with the environments they help create and inhabit.

Ryan’s deep connection to the outdoors and the environment has been shaped by years of hands-on experience at the lake, where he has led the development and landscaping of complex and remote projects. An avid traveller and sports enthusiast, he approaches new experiences with energy and curiosity, whether staying active, advancing his understanding of the sciences, or staying informed on economic and political developments worldwide.

When he’s not experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, Ryan often unwinds by practicing musical instruments, applying the same focus and discipline that guide his professional work.
