Housing Action Plan for Landmark

Updated: Apr 4

Taché’s Housing Plan

MRA is supporting the RM of Taché in addressing critical housing and infrastructure challenges in Landmark, Manitoba. As part of this initiative, MRA presented a draft Housing Action Plan to Taché council, outlining strategic solutions to facilitate sustainable residential growth.

A key focus of the plan is the need for upgrades to Landmark’s water and wastewater infrastructure, which is at full capacity and currently limits new development. To address this, Taché is pursuing funding opportunities, including an application to the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund.

Our (MRA’s) Director of Economic Development, Brody Osadick, emphasized the importance of introducing diverse housing options, particularly “missing middle” housing such as duplexes, townhouses, and semi-detached homes. These housing forms provide attainable alternatives to single-family dwellings while optimizing land use and municipal servicing costs. Osadick also highlighted potential incentives, including development fee waivers and temporary tax relief, while noting the need for balanced implementation.

Recognizing community concerns regarding higher-density housing, MRA stressed the importance of proactive engagement to build support for mixed housing solutions. The Housing Action Plan will help guide Landmark’s residential growth strategies, ensuring alignment with broader municipal planning efforts.

MRA continues to work closely with the RM of Taché, contributing expert planning and economic development insights to support Landmark’s long-term sustainability and housing affordability.
